This is a New Old Stock (NOS) L-450 Humbucker Set (bridge and neck pickups) made in the USA by Bill Lawrence Wilde Pickups (Bill & Becky).
I bought these new directly from Bill and Becky quite a few years ago for a project that never came to fruition so these pickups were never installed or used. I can't find my original purchase receipt to confirm the exact order date, but it was around 2005.
This set of L-450s includes a 3.6 Henry neck pickup and a 4.8 Henry bridge pickup. The BL website from 2005 listed the magnet type as Alnico 3. Both pickups feature four conductor wiring for all possible coil splitting and parallel/series switching options. Bill & Becky report inductance values (3.6H and 4.8H in this case) but not DC resistance, as resistance varies substantially with different magnet wire gauges used in the winding process and inductance is a much more accurate predictor of pickup tone and output than resistance. However, since many people are more familiar with DC resistance values, I just measured these at approximately 7.7K ohms neck and 12.2K ohms bridge (keep in mind that DC resistance varies with temperature, so you may get different readings if you measure at a different temp than I did).
Since I never actually used these pickups I can't describe the tone, but some reviews I've read described them as more articulate than typical PAF-type humbuckers.
If you are a fan of Bill and Becky's pickups, you may know that the L-450 was later re-booted as the the L-600 model. The L-450/L-600 series pickups are no longer manufactured, so here's your chance to get a rare and coveted set of pickups from a legend in the pickup making business.
