Hello and welcome to The House of Chrome .
You are looking at a somewhat rare RCA model Type MI-6206-G Aero Pressure microphone first produced in the late 1940's I believe and manufactured up until the mid to late 1950's. It has that classic Buck Rogers look that was very futuristic for it's time. It comes with the hard to find original baffle, short cable, period RCA stand in which to display and rare microphone manual.
It should be noted that while this mic is 100% complete...it is non-working and should be used for display purposes only. If you intend on ever using this example you'll have to have it rewired and use another dynamic element. Because of it's nice physical condition it will make an exceptional display piece.
The MI-6206-G model was intended to be used as a general purpose microphone and could be used for everything from paging purposes to singing. This model came in high impedance and low impedance versions. The low impedance was this type. The high impedance version was the MI-6207 type. This RCA microphone has very good original paint. These mics either came in gloss black or umber grey paint. The paint is still glossy but there is just several small scratches, scuff marks and small paint chips but one would expect this on a mic of this age. The baffle is very nice and free of any heavy wear or dents. The baffle can be removed with the twist of a screw if needed.
The mic also has a short 9 inch cable that is soft, flexible and has a chunky vintage female 1/4 inch end connector. There is a lower chrome flexible joint mechanism that has plenty of tension and will give you just about any angle needed.
This mic is quite large and heavy. It cab be screwed onto any desk or floor stand you have but an original RCA desk stand is provided and it's an expensive rarer model. The mic is an easy 7 + on a scale of 1 - 10.
The original (very hard to find) mic manual is included and has some cool technical info on this mic. It's in very good overall condition and a great accessory to have for resale purposes.
MICROPHONE STAND SHOWN IS PART OF THIS SALE...
The RCA desk stand is period to the mic but I don't know the model number. It has a solid brass riser with polished chrome plating and a heavy cast iron base to keep the mic upright wear it belongs and really compliments the mic. It's in very nice condition with almost no wear at all. The original black paint is flawless.
The mic with stand is appx 13 inches tall when fully raised upright and 9 inches tall when lowered completely. The mic will not tip over even when lowered completely due to the stands heavy weight.
This is going to make a very nice and very unique display piece anywhere it sits in the home, office or studio.
As with all my vintage microphones...
