Listed is a beautiful Music Man Sterling. After 20 years of changing the game with the Stingray, Music Man decided to launch only their third new model to offer players a slimmed down profile with more tonal options to choose from. In doing so, they created what Musician Magazine called "the most innovative bass of 1993". Now you can own this piece of Music Man history!
The serial has been verified by the Music Man Registry and Customer Service as a pre-launch prototype for the Artist Relations team. With a manufacture date of April, 1993 this is likely the second Sterling ever built. I have only identified only one that was built before it.
It has Scarlet Transparent finish with a few minor scratches and nicks (shown in pictures) but overall the bass is in amazing condition.
The neck is birdseye maple with a unique logo only headstock stamp.
The bridge is vintage Music Man style with adjustable string mutes.
Original Tolex case is included with a few tears but also in overall good condition.
The 9-Volt Active Electronics are all original, fully functional and sound simply amazing:
Triple coil pickup with ceramic magnets (Humbucker with a phantom coil)
3-Way Coil Selection Switch (parallel, single-coil with phantom hum-cancelling, series)
Volume and 3-Band Active EQ.
