Tacoma Jumbo JK-50CE4 with Original Hard Case refinished KOA Back and Sides.

Awesome 1997 Made in the USA all the way, Tacoma JK-50CE4 acoustic/electric and this one is a player. Koa back and sides! Beautiful tone. Bright in a good Taylor-ish kind, of way but the jumbo size gives it a nice deep bass too.

If you are looking then you probably know, Tacoma's are great USA made guitars. But they had finish issues and this one was no exception. I have a thing for high end nice playing guitars with cosmetic issues so this one followed me home. The finish on the back and sides was peeling off in various places and there was a long ago professional repair/patch (7th picture) where the original owner banged it. It was ugly and the beautiful KOA could not be appreciated. I carefully removed the old finish and gave 'er a fresh hand rubbed (8 coats) Poly gloss finish and it looks great now! Even the patch kind of blends in.  This is great durable finish for guitars. I left the top alone - no major peeling issues here. Some dings and a few chips but it looks like most 20 year old guitars that have been played. I would not mess with the top on this one as the tone is just too good.

I have a beater Hoffman and this one just sounds too much like the Hoffman, and that says a lot because the handmade Hoffman is much more expensive. So I'm letting 'er go. I put a lot of love into this one and it should be played more. With the cool abalone inlay around the sound hole and neck this one needs to be on a stage someplace.

It comes with a great Fishman Prefix Plus Onboard Preamp System ($300 plus new) that works perfect and shapes the sound in a wide variety of ways. New D'addario strings just installed. Original 6 latch case with key and Truss rod tool included.
