G&L Legacy Special Sunburst USA 2007

G&L Legacy Special, sunburst, made in USA 2007. G&L was started in the 80s by Leo Fender and longtime collaborator George Fullerton. The Legacy is their update on the Strat style shape, but with some key differences. First up, it's got a set of fancy rails-style pickups. They sound much closer to a single coil than a regular humbucker, with heaps of attack and chime and a pronounced snap. They're also gloriously quiet, devoid of the usual single coil noise. The pickups are paired with some clever wiring: you get a treble cut and a bass cut instead of the regular tone knobs, so you can dial in a 70s-style sparkly spank or thicken things right up... heaps of options. The bridge is smooth and stable too, it's a really great piece of hardware. The neck is similar in shape to many more recent USA Fender options, but it's immaculately executed with brilliant fretwork and a super tight pocket... the quality control is bang on. It takes a particular player to shun the bigger brand in favour of the superior guitar, but those that dare will surely be rewarded.

Cosmetic condition notes: minor finish wear. The headstock has a dimple on the end, no major marks. The neck is clean and smooth in the hands, minor dimples and glossing from play on the back only. The back has a couple of very light dimples in the belly carve and light scuffs on the back edge only, no major marks. The sides have no major marks, just some very minor dimples on the top horn. The front is very clean, just some scuffs behind the bridge and light play wear on the guard and horns. Overall: excellent condition (9/10)

Playing condition notes: Action is low, neck is straight, intonation is good, truss rod works. All electrics tested and working properly. Frets have light wear only, 9/10 for fret life left. Wearing fresh 10/46 Moonshiners strings.
