About This Listing

For your buying pleasure: a restored, golden age vintage 1972 Fender Rhodes Mark I Stage 73, originally assembled under the watchful eye and attentive ear of the legendary Buz Watson (see https://reverb.com/news/the-true-story-of-buz-watson-mythic-rhodes-piano-tech if you don't already know his illustrious name).

The period of 1971–1972, during Buz Watson's tenure at Fender, marks one of the high points in the production history of Rhodes electric pianos. Among other reasons for the era's repute is the "Marcel" key pedestal, making the action noticeably smoother and responsive than many Mark I electric pianos (and an inspiration for the after-market "Miracle mod" action modification).

This Rhodes has been restored, with the following work done:

New grommets
New damper felts
New hammer tips
New pedestal felts
New balance rail felts and shims
New outer Tolex
Harp lid refinished
New hardware
New legs and crossbars
New sustain pedal
New rear "Fender Rhodes" and front "Seventy Three" logos
Tone bar height regulation
Key dip and height regulation
Pickup voicing
New capacitor in bass boost circuit
One new tine
One new pickup

There is some wear to keytops and name rail.

Here's a great opportunity to own a fantastic sounding, restored, peak period Rhodes Mark I.
