About This Listing

Don't confuse this Pro model with other 1956 Standards that have the regular P-90 pickups.  The new P-90 Pro pickups deliver the true classic tone that sets this guitar apart from the others.

Epiphone continues its long history of innovation with the introduction of the “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO featuring Epiphone's new P-90 PRO pickups made to the original specifications of vintage P-90s including bobbin shape, 18% nickel/silver base and Elektrosola wire. The new “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO packs a powerful punch with classic P-90 tone to the bone.

The Epiphone “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO features a solid mahogany body with a maple veneer top that delivers the classic tone and sustain that can only come from a “real” Les Paul. The “1956 PRO has single ply cream binding on the top for a beautiful vintage look. Like all Epiphone Les Pauls—unlike cheap imitations—the Epiphone “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO features a 14 degree angled headstock that gives you more pressure at the nut for longer sustain with less tuning hang-ups caused by “string-tree” gadgets. The mahogany neck has a 24.75” scale with a 12” radius and features a beefier 1950s Rounded “C” profile with a glued-in neck joint for lifelong stability. The rosewood fingerboard comes with pearloid trapezoid inlays, 22 medium-jumbo frets, a 1.68” nut, and cream binding.

The Epiphone “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO now features new P-90 PRO pickups for that one-of-a kind vintage Les Paul sound. Epiphone P-90 PRO pickups feature Alnico V magnets, the same magnets used in sought-after vintage Les Paul with P-90s from the early 1950s. Alnico V magnets provide a rich, warm tone with a sparkling high end and a solid low end which makes the “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO one of the most versatile guitars around. Epiphone uses only the highest quality parts for its "PRO" pickups, including ABS plastic bobbins, 1010 Cold Rolled Steel pole shoes and pole screws, Alnico magnets, and the finest magnet wire available.

The Epiphone “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO features Epiphone’s legendary rock-solid hardware including a LockTone™ Tune-o-matic fully adjustable bridge and a Stopbar tailpiece. And now, Epiphone’s updated, patent pending design auto locks the bridge and tailpiece in place with no tools needed for that one-of-a-kind Les Paul sustain. The “1956” Les Paul Standard PRO also uses 1” diameter potentiometers for better “throw,” longer life, and reliable service. And the all-metal toggle switch uses rugged spring-steel contacts to ensure years of reliable service and performance. Epiphone’s proprietary output jack features an improved contact shape and heavy-duty spring steel to increase reliability and Epiphone's new "Deluxe" 18:1 ratio machine heads making tuning easy and reliable.

There were no issues found on this guitar, all that was done was a set up.  This is an amazing guitar, it sounds like a vintage Les Paul from the 50's.  As you know, if you were to find a Les Paul from the 50's it would cost you thousands of dollars.  This Epiphone gives you the look, the feel, and most importantly the sound of those classic Les Paul guitars at an affordable price.

Be the first to own this very special guitar.  It looks, feels and plays perfectly.  In addition, like all of the refurbished guitars I sell, this guitar has passed 5 quality tests at the refurbisher to ensure that you are getting a perfect guitar.

Why buy a refurbished guitar?

I specialize in manufacturer refurbished guitars and basses because I believe they are a tremendous value.  These instruments have actually passed more quality tests than those that go straight from the manufacturer to a music store.  These instruments do not have major flaws, they have had a minor issue such as a slight finish blemish or perhaps an electrical issue such as a loose solder joint.  I buy my guitars and basses from the largest, and in my opinion the best, refurbishing center in the country located near Nashville.  They are staffed with factory trained luthiers who take great pride in the products they put up for sale.  Each instrument must pass 5 tests before it is released for sale.  Some of the models are discontinued and have no issues at all.  Each instrument is stamped used and issued a new serial number.  This is to prevent unethical retailers from selling these instruments as new rather than refurbished, because a refurbished instrument does not carry the manufacturer warranty.  I live close enough to Nashville that I travel to the factory and pick out my guitars myself.  I play each one prior to listing it for sale.  You can be assured if I would not be proud to give it as a gift, I will not take it.

The pictures in my listings are ALWAYS of the actual instrument that is listed, I never use stock photos for a refurbished instrument.  If I know why the instrument was sent for refurbishing I will put it in the listing, however many of them are rated NVR, which means no visible repair.  Please email me with any questions you have, you will find that I give very detailed answers.  I am a musician first, and that drives my choice of instruments to sell and the detail that I give in answering any questions.
