About This Listing

The biggest difference between this archtop and any other you'll probably find that this one is very easy to play. The neck is very straight as demonstrated by the low 2mm action. There are some little signs of being around 63 years old, of course, but everything considered this guitar is a very fine specimen - and most importantly, it's a great player! Neck has been reset and is stable.

Welcome! Right now, you are looking at an insanely cool and super rare archtop guitar.
This is a vintage Silvertone H61 archtop acoustic electric guitar.
Produced by Harmony in the USA under Sears/Silvertone, the H-61 shares the same elements as Harmony's H-51 model, but with a cutaway.

One of the earliest and rarest archtops produced, the H-61 is also one of their most visually and tonally beautiful instruments, with an original Gibson P-13 pickup. Back in the mid to late 50s, Harmony had some sort of partnership with Gibson and they supplied pickups to be put on Harmony guitars.  I think these are some of the best old American guitars money can buy, especially in you're in the market for that classic hollow body tone a la Elmore James and Jimmy Reed.  The full auditorium size projects like a cannon!  The Gibson pickup in this handles overdrive extremely well and has the vintage tone built right in!
For the same price as a Korean built Epiphone you could own a wonderful piece of Americana with a vintage Gibson pickup!  Everything works on this guitar and it plays well up and down the neck

These are outstanding blues guitar...both for slide, flatpick and/or fingerpicking. The pickups just have a great authentic raw edge with great blues tone. An authentic Gibson P-13 pickup, the predecessor to the famed P-90, and a really super jazz pickup with a deep thick low end growly tonal profile. It’s got a really awesome natural distortion about it that pervades the tone, but soothingly so. It's good for jazz, but also rocks pretty hard, as people like Jack White and the White Stripes have demonstrated….

With a spruce top, and maple back/sides, this guitar has a bright, and full acoustic response.
The overwound P-13 delivers plenty of fullness and midrange bark - the perfect pairing to the body's tone wood combination.
The Brazilian Rosewood fretboard features pearl dot inlays, and also features a Brazilian Rosewood bridge.
Just a gorgeous gorgeous example of fine craftsmanship.
These guitars are getting harder and harder to find, especially in this condition.
Don't miss the opportunity to get your hands on this Silvertone H61 for a great price.

You are looking at a pretty rare vintage Silvertone electric Archtop.

This is quite an oddity of a specimen and despite the amount of Harmony H-50s,53s,58s ect. floating around out there in the world today, I think you would be hard pressed to ever run into another one like this in the wild. At least i've never seen one. . . Anyway, please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions if you are interested in this guitar, as I am more than happy to answer them.

A huge P-13 pickup in it + 63 Year-Old tone= awesome!

Please ask all questions before bidding. Auction may end without notice as I have this guitar listed locally.
