Alden Originals Rawcaster 2016 Whitewashed Ash

Custom furniture builder Clay Alden turns out a lot of road/tour cases from his shop in Ashland City, TN (near Nashville), so he knows a bit about woodworking and guitars. Now, he’s putting those together in a series of solid-body guitars made from locally reclaimed barn wood. It doesn't get much more country than that!

This Alden Original Rawcaster is made from weathered ash. The top is whitewashed, the back is left unstained, and the look is tremendous. The pickguard is also whitewashed for a contrasting, but congruent look. Even the bridge pickup is topped with a thin veneer of matching wood. Any distressing is totally original and authentic.

The birdseye maple neck and maple fretboard offer a comfortable C-shaped profile. The pickups are hand-wound and sweet sounding. So as cool as the Rawcaster might look hanging on the wall of the general store, it’s built to rock—or twang, as the case may be. We think this is one very cool guitar.
