About This Listing

The SF18 is a OOO style folk guitar made with a solid Sitka top and mahogany back and sides. Like all our models it is very much a traditional style instrument with a modern, open sound. Being a smaller body guitar the tone is tighter and a little higher than Sigma's dreadnoughts but due to their bracing the SF18 is still surprisingly powerful with great projection. Again like their dreadnoughts they use a scalloped, forward shifted X bracing system allowing more of the soundboard to vibrate resulting in a lively and exciting little guitar to play.

Without doubt this guitar is perfect for folk and blues but can really handle big open chord strumming very well too.

Traditional components such as a real bone nut and saddle, mahogany neck with a dovetail joint and rosewood bridge and fingerboard add to its tonal capabilities and overall quality, and cosmetically it’s a true classic with tortoiseshell binding and pickguard.
As is the case with all of the guitars from Tallman Instruments... we take the usual factory set-ups to the next level... re-checking/slotting the string clearances at the nut and checking clearances the 12th frets. We rock the adjust the frets to be sure they are level. We dress the frets with Micro-mesh pads to polish them to a shine. The rosewood on the fingerboards and bridge are cleaned with medical alcohol pads and are then treated with a specially formulated natural oil compound used in restoring and preserving wooden antiques and are buffed to a low gloss shine. The total guitar body is then hand-buffed with swirl-removing agents and polished to a "almost-comb-your-hair-in-it" shine. Each guitar is then played all the way up the neck to verify there is no buzzing and to check intonation. Your guitar comes to you absolutely ready to play... except for your initial tuning... as we are believers in shipping a guitar with no stress on the neck. We take our set-ups seriously... and we want to put that satisfied smile on your face when you first sit down with it and strum that first chord :-)   Features
