This one is an R8 2014 that went through the Deluxe Package by Kim Lafleur and team at Historic Makeovers in 2016 and was converted to 59 Specs including double carving by hand of neck and top. Slimmer and more comfortable to play than a regular 58'.
Fantastic paint job. Top is beautifully and discretely flamed, in the middle between a flamed and a plain top maple. Really looks and feels like a vintage 59 thanks to the work by Historic Makeovers.
Also an incredibly balanced guitar, at around 8.45 pounds in my digital scale, its easy on your back and resonates for days.
Royalite binding, nitro painting with weather checking, nylon nut like in the Bursts, and broken in finish. Has the real weather checking lines rather than the razor blade ones made by Gibson.
All the Retrospect and Bartlett parts, Area 59 Custom CTS pots, plus the Grover Rotomatic 18:1 Tuners (not shown in the pictures but assembled in the guitar) and a Faber ABRH Bridge that is really a great upgrade, the rest is Gibson Custom Shop Original Hardware. You have over $800 in upgrades to the normal RDS (Real Deal Series) that Historic Makeovers sell at $6,990.00
Brazilian Rosewood Board and the best fret job I have ever seen, Kim has his own Plek machine.
It comes with Angela/Jensen and Russian Pios caps at 0.022 and 0.015 respectively, for the Woman tone.
Pickups are Burst Buckers from the Custom Shop, very warm, punchy but clear tone, really excellent stuff. BB 3 on the bridge reading around 8.6k and BB 1 on the neck reading around 7.7k.
Last couple of pictures show the guitar with the pickups and the control cavity with the Jensen/Russian Pios and the Area 59 CTS pots.
Will be delivered in the Gibson Custom Shop Lifton Reissue Brown case with flip up latches which is the most accurate reissue of the Liftons, with the Historic Makeovers COA.
