bowlback Mandolin
handmade of all solid tonewoods by Luthier Herold Wunderlich in Markneukirchen/Germany around the 1950s/1960s
-about 63cm total length, scale lenght about 33cm
- solid bookmatched arched sprucetop with wooden multi-colour edge and celluloide binding. Nice inlayed ebony scratchplate with inlayed butterfly and flower made of celluloide
- solid voluminous bowlback body with calace-style extension, body lenght 32cm, body depht 14cm, handcarved quality armrest
- straight maple neck with reinforcement stripe, V-shape, slooted headstock, quality fingerboard with large pearl dots, 24 frets + zerofret, original bone nut, width at nut: 22mm
original tuners with brass plates and small bone pegs
- original quality bridge with bone saddle
original alloy tailpiece
The mandolin is in age related good condition and fully playable with excellent string action (1,2mm !! on the 12th fret)
In the top, a fine hairline crack was sealed/glued with an inserted spruce slice. The armrest has been reglued earlier and is showing a sealed crack.
Otherwise, there are no other cracks, damages or other repairs on this fine mando

The shellac varnish is showing some normal and autenthic signs of the time
Fingeboard and frets are showing no signs of wear. The frets have been rounded , the fingerboard was cleaned and oiled
The strings are new
