1984 Yamaha SJ550HR Tele Style Guitar Made In Japan Fujigen Rare!.
Rare and hard to find guitar. These were only exported out of Japan for a few years.
I like to think of them as a Super Tele. Dual humbucker pickups with a push/push tone pot for splitting the humbuckers to single coil. Has one volume, one tone with push/push, and a 3 way selector switch.
The body is made with alder and birch. I have striped one of these down and stained it before, and they are beautifully constructed. The neck is made with Birdseye maple with a rosewood fingerboard.
These came factory with the very coveted and hard to find Spinex pickups, that Yamaha only used for a few years in their high end model SG and SJ guitars.
The frets have just been leveled, and dressed. The fretboard has been oiled and polished. The maple neck has some really beautiful Birdseye and colors that stand out.
I have replaced the factory zinc string saddles with some made from billet brass. I think it brightens the tone.
The candy red body has some dents and dings, with the deepest one one the rear of the front, about the size of a jelly bean. The rest are on the outer edges and some light buckle rash. There are also finish cracks on both sides of the neck pocket. These are in the finish only. Please inquire for more pics. I have pics of the guitar disassembled for verification of its originality.
It has a brand new set of D’Addario XL .10-.46 strings.
The guitar will be professionally packaged and shipped with insurance.
The guitar will need to be tuned and strings tightened upon receiving. It may also need to be setup to suit your playing style (string height, etc), I do not give partial refunds for this.
