VIRTUAL ACCESS PROGRAMMER FOR OBERHEIM MATRIX-1000/ 6 / 6R

This software is a Virtual ACCESS synthesizer programmer for use with the Oberheim Matrix-1000 / 6 / 6R synthesizer.     It emulates the ACCESS hardware editor in a software environment within the APPLE LOGIC audio/sequencer program (formerly Emagic Logic).     To use this software you MUST have a valid copy of LOGIC on your computer (see below) as well as a MIDI interface which connects your computer via MIDI cable to your hardware synthesizer.

This software CANNOT be used as a stand alone application under any circumstances.     It will NOT run in Ableton, Reason, VST or any other host - it is not a plug-in but a single importable layer of the Logic environment.

Upon purchase, you will ultimately receive a ZIP archive of the editor you purchased for Logic.     UNZIP this archive and you will have a LOGIC song document you can now open in the Logic program (Mac v8-9 and vX are supplied - please request special version if needed).      Once open, you will see the editor on your screen and you can then discover the pleasures of a Virtual ACCESS programmer for your OBERHEIM synthesizer!

NOW LOGIC X COMPATIBLE!       Logic X upgrades have been ported to earlier versions.    Previous buyers may contact me here for free upgrade to any version v4 - 9.

UPDATE:   November 9, 2015 - THIS VERSION IS NOW 100% LOGIC X COMPATIBLE!

CAUTION!!    The original Matrix-1000 v1.1 firmware (the software inside your unit that runs the synth) has a few bugs that are pretty serious and these affect the programming of the synth from any remote SYSEX editor such as this or the original ACCESS hardware programmer.    A kind fellow in Germany has fixed the worst of these bugs and released a public v1.1.3 firmware which I INCLUDE with your purchase of this editor (software .bin file ONLY).    You will have to burn this .bin file to a 27C256 EPROM and physically install it inside your unit for 100% functionality (or live without a few key parameters).     Overall, a fairly simple process and highly recommended to get the most out of this editor and to avoid the nasty bugs.

Upgrade also necessary for full functionality of MATRIX-6 - firmware v2.13 required for full operation (and included as above).

OVERVIEW:

This editor is physically laid out to emulate the ACCESS Matrix hardware programmer (circa 1995).    If you're familiar with the ACCESS hardware programmer then you should feel right at home here.     I've adopted certain changes for the better such as adding all the additional Matrix-1000 voice parameters that the ACCESS lacks, including a RESET function as well as a few other performance tools.   

Important things for voice programming such as the Modulation Matrix, Key Click, Key Mode, Portamento, and all the rest have been included here.      Every other voice parameter that the Matrix can respond to - is present on a second programmer page.     Page 1 will lay out similar to the ACCESS programmer and Page 2 acts as an adjunct to that (please see the included photos to understand the layout).

Due to the deep and complex nature of the Matrix synthesizer - coupled with certain limitations in the LOGIC environment - some programming functions will have certain minor constraints (only in the Mod Matrix).     This cannot be avoided here - but this programmer does add a ton of functionality that the original ACCESS lacks and you can still tweak the SYSEX objects yourself if you desire an option I have not made available.    

All real time moves are recordable by the Logic sequencer for repeatable real time changes on playback.      Or as an option you can automate these parameters with LOGIC'S hyperdraw function.    You may also remotely control these SYSEX faders and buttons via a hardware control surface if you take the time to tailor the controls to suit your individual hardware.     This is not difficult to do and needs only be done once and then saved for future sessions.

This programmer resides in one layer of the LOGIC environment hierarchy - and is importable to your personal AUTOLOAD song (notes on how to do so are also included).    It is not a plug-in, but a page in the environment which can be imported into your song documents or run alongside your current work simultaneously as a second song.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

This editor is current but is still compatible with many earlier versions of Logic starting with Emagic MAC Version 4.x.     It is compatible with ALL versions of Logic through vX.   (Logic X v10.5 has a visual bug concerning button display - corrected in v10.6)  

It is also compatible with Logic Express v7 - 9.     If you have a version 8 Logic you must use v 8.01 or higher which fixes a SYSEX bug that renders v8.0 inoperable.

This editor is also compatible with the v4 - v6 PC versions of Logic (please specify upon purchase).     In all v5's - it is compatible down to Logic SILVER.     NOT compatible with Micro-Logic or any of the other earlier neutered Emagic bundled versions.

This editor is designed to fit a screen resolution of 1024 X 768 or larger but will also work on smaller screens.
