The SABIAN 21" HHX Groove Ride is a funky blend of stroke and tone in a cymbal with simmering sound and feel. Until HHX, it was impossible to project darkness. But the dark, simmering sound, agitated bite and "Tone Projection" design of HHX makes this series more effective than others. Other cymbals may generate darkness, but HHX stirs up more simmering heat, more musical dirt, more of what drummers want to hear and projects it. It gets you heard. And felt. HHX "Tone Projection" is an innovative design, created by the SABIAN Vault team.
The Sabian HHX 21" Groove Ride is a remarkable sounding cymbal -- one of the darkest in the HHX line and with seriously musical overtones and an ultra-sensitive response. With a good amount of stick attack, the Groove Ride produces some nice definition but stays away from the "ping" sound found in many rides. The Groove Ride is all about the wash and sustain. Even when you strike the bell, which is loud without being overpowering, you'll notice some bleed into the bow which adds a great harmonic character to this versatile cymbal.
