Classic Vintage Recording Studio & Engineering is selling its fully restored vintage 1963 H. H. Scott 222C "Stereomaster" Tube Hi-Fi Amp!

I've gone through absolutely everything in this amp to get it operating in peak condition - the end result is that it sounds absolutely wonderful and will last another lifetime if well cared for!

Beautiful all-aluminum knobs, faceplate, and chassis - the pictures don't do it justice!

I've been testing it with my newly restored Technics turntable w/a new Audio Technica cartridge and its been blowing my mind - if you have a turntable and like to entertain guests at home or clients in the studio - this amp is a perfect fit!

Approx. 20 watts per channel utilizing push-pull 7189's/EL84M/6n14n power tubes. This may not sound like much, but this thing gets LOUD without distortion! It has a new matched quad of NOS Russian 6n14n-EB's installed for this sale - they sound amazing!

Brand new NOS GE 6U8A/6GH8 tubes installed in the phase inverter/final preamp stage just for this sale.

All vintage RCA preamp tubes in the phono/preamp stage (they look like the coveted long black-plate RCA's to me) - these tubes sound great and should last a really long time!

This will work with normal 47k phono impedance (MAG LOW input) or high 150k phono impedance (MAG LOW input) - its pretty versatile to have selectable impedance like this!

It can also handle +4 dBu and -10 dBV input using the Tuner/Aux inputs - I use it to check mixes occasionally at +4 or run -10 connections from a phone, PC, Tape, or CD player for listening to music.

Original Selenium filament rectifier replaced with modern and reliable silicon diodes - to compensate for this change, the first filament dropping resistor has been up-rated and replaced with an awesome new British Welwyn wirewound power resistor.

All electrolytics have been replaced - I've used high-end and expensive US-made CE Manufacturing can caps that fit right in the old filter cap spots. I left the old filament can cap in place for aesthetics (completely unused with no connections made to the terminals) but made a better, more effective replacement under the chassis with higher-value high-end Japanese Panasonic caps. The result is super low hum - the lowest I've ever heard in this amp - so low its inaudible even at full volume with the aux/tuner inputs and barely noticeable at full gain in the high-gain phono preamp stage. Cathode bypass caps and resistors replaced and relocated to the tube socket to be able to match the values of the cap better for a precise stereo image - the old method utilized 2 sections of a can cap - and if you work with old can caps, you know they are rarely matched.

Almost every signal cap has been replaced except for the lovely-sounding original EQ and filter network caps. This amp was serviced in 1968 (service sticker is still underneath) with some nice vintage Sprague orange drops that, for the most part, I've left in place since they did a nice job with special attention payed to the foil-end of the signal cap - a nice touch often overlooked or ignored by professionals. I did replace the most critical signal caps in the amp with amazing French-made Solen caps that I've matched on my BK Precision matching meter for accurate stereo imaging.

The resistors in the phono section have been completely replaced with some of the finest low-noise military-spec metal film resistors you can buy - to include Dale/Vishay RN65C's. Even though they are precision resistors, I made sure they were matched on my BK Precision matching meter.

All pots and rotary switches have been flushed with electrical contact cleaner and lubed with dielectric grease - so they have no noise and a very nice, consistent feel. The rotary switches have been adjusted for a lighter touch when switching while still retaining that nice clicky feel - a common problem with these is that the rotary switches are so tough to turn, the metal knobs will actually slice into your fingers - but not so with this amp!

I've implemented a simple, non-destructive, yet effective modification which allows you to adjust the bias to the left/right tube pairs - originally it only allowed for tube pair DC balance. This means you don't actually have to buy an expensive matched quad of tubes - though this comes with a nice matched quad. With my bias mod, I was able to get all tubes to match within 0.1 Ma! This means more precise stereo imaging due to the ability to match plate dissipation/output power of both channels.

Power cord replaced with heavy duty grounded cord.

Issues: Scratches and small dents throughout - still excellent condition being that it was made in '63! Power/Accessory socket on the back has some missing plastic and is not working very effectively - the mount is solid so I decided not to remove it, but I don't recommend using it. Some lettering/silkscreening on the faceplate is worn off.

This will ship out double-boxed with tubes removed and labeled for easy re-installation - I guarantee you will be very happy with the shipping job - just check my feedback!

No returns or refunds on used items like this - so be sure to ask all questions before purchase - I'd be happy to help! Worldwide shipping with full insurance - I've shipped high-end vintage pro audio gear to studios and individuals all over the world with zero problems with my packaging and lots of complements.

Feedback policy: I leave feedback after receiving feedback from the buyer.

Thanks for looking!
