1980 Fernandes FJB-65J Jazz Bass . Stone Logo . J for Jaco. Rare MIJ
Howdy. Up for sale is a rare and interesting Fernandes Jazz Bass. Its a Japan-only FJB-65J that is in great shape. This bass was made 40 years ago and was produced only one year or so.
Everyone recognizes Jaco as a great player and iconic figure in the world of music. Apparently he was popular in Japan as Fernades took it upon themselves to produce this stunning Jazz Bass. It is like Jaco's except that it has frets.
This bass has a vintage feel it is pretty light at about 8.8 pounds. It has the skinny nut but a more chunky neck feel. A lot of basses from the 80s and early 90s have a more skinny neck. Overall the bass is pretty clean condition wise. It has a few small marks and dings on the body but not many.
The finish has not dulled or yellowed much. There isn't much wear to the frets or fingerboard. Everything works and the bass plays and sounds good.
The bridge is a modern USA vintage reissue with the grooved saddles. These basses had some copper shielding. The pickups have it around them too. I've seen this recently on other Fernandes pickups for sale. I don't know if the copper shielding in the body cavities is original.
The bass is listed in the 1981 Japan only Fernandes catalog. Since catalogs come out early in the year I am guessing that the bass is a 1980.
So there it is if you like cool and rare MIJ basses here is your chance to get one. Serious inquiries only from interested parties. Please hold off if you want to complain about the price or want to share your status as an Internet forum expert.
Sold as-is no returns. Shipping is $75 in the US and $175 outside the States if your country is affordably serviced .
