About This Listing

Jackson Guldan was a US company out of Columbus, Ohio that made a whole lot of violins and some well constructed parlor sized guitars that had a unique neck setup - the angle can be adjusted anytime by turning a small inset screw at the neckjoint. With that easily adjustable neck, a 24'" scale and trapeze tailpiece it makes it a good choice for a octave mandolin, Irish bouzouki - or double tenor conversion. -- Here I went with a double tenor setup tuned in Chicago style - DGBE - also the same as a baritone ukulele.

I've put on new locking style tuners - a new tailpiece - new bone nut and modified the bridge for eight strings. Tuned to play in D-G-B-E and the string pairings are:

26-11   20-20  14-14   10-10

The tuning is like a guitar with just the first 4 strings.  It's currently setup with a string height of 1/8" at the 12th fret bass side and 3/32" treble side, and it plays well there up and down the fingerboard.
The acoustic quality on this parlor sized guitar is outstanding. It weighs less than 5 lbs, but push it hard on rhythm and it hangs with a dreadnought - and the sustain just rings on and on.

I've posted a sample on Soundcloud under Claytonaudio
