About This Listing

Available is this new 2021 Stephen Marchione Master Burst Solid Body. If you've ever had the pleasure of playing an instrument built by Stephen Marchione, it's highly likely you were just as awe stricken and fascinated as we were when we first laid hands on this incredible piece. This Marchione Master Burst is built to this highest of standards and is a guitar that excels in practically every musical genre imaginable. These guitars are far from your everyday LP copy; the Master Burst is truly it's own unique creation. While steeped in tradition esthetically, the Master Burst Solid Body is really a modern day classic with innovations that make for a truly engaging playing experience. This design takes all of the aspects we love about the vintage set-neck, single-cutaway solid body guitars of yesteryear and refines them for the modern performer and/or studio musician.

The one piece Mahogany body is carved thinner than most solid body guitars, yet it is the same thickness as a Les Paul in the bridge and tailpiece area, retaining incredible sustain without being even the slightest bit heavy; weighing in at only 7lbs 3.7oz. Honestly if sustain is your thing, we can't think of one guitar that has even come close to the rich, long sustain of this Marchione. Notes ring out in a very organic and breath-like way, as if the guitar is alive.

Stephen is a true master luthier in every sense of the term. The fit and finish are flawless and the distribution of weight between the body and neck is nothing short of perfection. The guitar is finished with pure Nitro Lacquer over Shellac. Other features include a hand carved Michigan Silver Maple top over a one-piece Mahogany body, top body binding (grained ivoroid) as well as neck and headstock binding which is also ivoroid. For the sake of tradition and beauty the binding on the body is sprayed with lacquer at the same time as the guitar is being finished and the binding on the neck is also purposefully and carefully sprayed over with lacquer for a slightly yellowed / antiqued look.

The guitar features a beautiful set of Tone Specific Pickup's PAF Virtuoso Humbuckers. This set in this instrument make this Master Burst a true jack of all trades, as well as a master of all trades. You can nail that classic PAF sound, yet they are outrageously clear and dynamic with great warmth and presence. With the tone control wide open you can pull off a Tele-like tonality depending on the way that your rig is EQ'd; all the way up to gritty Blues and Rock tones when overdriven. Jazz musicians will also love the rich, punchy sound of the neck pickup. Once again this guitars tone is very dependent on how you set your tone control and your playing dynamics. This Master Burst also utilizes a streamlined master volume and master tone lay out for a more direct signal path with less wire runs. If you like to do volume or tone swells when playing, then this is the layout for you, as they are both a pinky away.

One of the last things that we'd like to mention is the setup. Once again it's out of this world. Marchione's instruments are designed to be able to take light strings with a very low action without buzzing or any other issues commonly found on guitars with an action this low and slinky. Currently strung up with a set of 10's and a action of just two and three 64ths of an inch at the 12th fret; this is by far the easiest instrument to play we've ever come across. Supple and effortless.
