1920's SS Stewart? 00-Parlor Guitar in playing condition!
Beautiful hand carved Cedar V-neck with real Brazilian Rosewood fret-board.
Possibly made by Lyon & Healy, of the Chicago guitar builders. It has a angled brace
under the sound-hole which is an indication of their work. It is a 00-size large parlor.
I believe it has Adirondack Spruce top and looks like Brazilian
Rosewood back and sides! Could be just stained to look like it.
I felt I got burnt on my last sale, so I want to be clear about what I feel I am offering:
Built with over a hundred year old aged tone woods, that are getting rare.
I believe the "star" on the headstock indicates SS Stewart, best known for their
banjos. Also told the bracing looks like Lyon & Healy, who build guitars under many names.
Neck is straight and tight against the body. Comes with a protective case.
The guitar plays fine up and down the neck but the action on all but very few of my collection of antique guitar, play well above the 7-9th frets. I have a personal collection of over 60 guitars and at least 20 are pre-1930. I would not use any of my guitars for "out-door" playing. I have a carbon fiber, or use an inexpensive laminate for that. These old guitars are fragile! 100 yr old solid very dry wood which moisture and humidity can ruin in an instant! This guitar is for the collector who sees the value and appreciate the beauty of these hand made "Antique" instruments.
