Vintage 1960's Goya Classical Guitar (NOS Neck) The Goya guitar made its first debut in the 1950s. Hailing from Sweden, it was brought to America via New York. The Goya guitars were created by the Levin Company, who began to manufacture guitars in 1900. The Goya guitars shared an uncanny resemblance to its Levin counterpart.

It is known that the Levin family are the original creators of the Goya guitar. An American wholesale guitar distributor, Jerome Hershan, saw the Levin guitar at a trade show in Germany in 1952. He convinced the Levin manufacturers to see the guitars in America as well. He knew, however, that the name of ''Levin'' would not do well in the United States, as the vintage guitars needed a more rustic name. He suggested the name ''Goya'' from the Spanish artist Francisco Goya. Francisco Goya was well known for the guitars that he showed in his paintings. The Goya name seemed to fit the guitar, and before long, the Goya guitar was introduced into America

Americans took a quick liking to the vintage Goya guitar. At that particular time period, the Goya guitar sold well because of the shiny luster that the guitar possessed. This high quality finish on the guitar was like no other guitar available on the market. The guitar had nylon strings - a far cry and different sound than its counterparts that had steel strings. Many guitar enthusiasts, including Folk musicians, appreciated the Goya guitar.
