Here's an honest-to-goodness point-to-point amp.

This is another amp that I received broken and restored to all its glory!  After a recap, replacement of a few key resistors and and very thorough cleaning, it's ready to go for another 10 years.  I then rebiased the amp, as it was way imbalanced.  The power tubes are RCAs, so they're still rock solid.

Tonally, these Thunderstar amps are somewhere between a Tweed Bassman and an Ampeg B-15.   7247/12dw7, a 12ax7 and 2 6L6s in the power section give somewhere between 30-40W.  8 ohm output.

The  3-way tone circuit is pretty wild.  It has 2 subsections, a mid scoop, and a preamp local NFB on V2.
open circle :  bright, scooped and c l e a n.  Kinda Blackface-y tone, bright and smacky.
half-filled circle:  TONS OF GAIN  This appears to have minimal NFB so the volume/gain jumps compared to other positions. Great for tweed overdrive tones.
Dark Circle : just the bass - super fat, dark and clean. The NFB only hits the high end, but hits it hard.

And on top of those there is a standard 2-band tone control (bass & treble)!  This amp can roar with the right speaker set. I hooked up my 2x10 rig and have had a blast roaring some 60s tones.

It's not a crazy powerful bass amp, although with a 4x10 or larger you could rock out pretty hard, just don't expect clean tones.  The sound that it generates is lovely though, pure vintage tube point-to-point goodness.

For guitar, it's a solid amount of volume and gain, with a really nice thick, rich tone.  There's a reason guitarists use bass amps from back when, they're just a joy to play through.
