Hang on to your spandex and grab your mousse, here's a 1990's Burny Fernandes MG-85X Mockingbird electric guitar in gently road worn, 100% original condition and in working order. Crafted in Japan, this Fernandes-made iteration of one of BC Rich's most popular designs is the signature model for “hide” of the heavy metal band, X Japan. With the model number denoting value in yen, the hide X model has been in continuous production since 1991, and the model number has increased over time with inflation (the MG-120X designation is the current offering). The guitar shares the unmistakable body and headstock shape, cloud inlays, and hot pickups of the venerable B.C. Rich Mockingbird, and the tonewood complement includes a solid basswood body with flame maple top veneer, maple neck, and rosewood fretboard. The pickups are cutting and thick, reminiscent of the Dimarzio Super Distortion models, interacting well through high gain amplification with plenty of output and presence. The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, filling out with more shoulder and depth as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .870” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard has a 14" radius and features pearloid cloud inlays and medium jumbo frets which are practically perfect with plenty of meat and height, playing cleanly in every register. The electronics function as they should, with a single Master Volume knob, three-way pickup selector switch, and Volume bypass two-way mini toggle. The gold hardware is nice with more than just a hint of surface patina, and the original Volume knob is intact. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few faint surface scuffs in the clear coat, a small chip to the finish through to the wood on the lower bout, and a slightly larger finish chip to the point of the horn that is down to the wood. 








It has just been professionally set up and dialed in for optimal playability and tone. It has low action with no buzzing or dead spots and is an absolute joy to play. It has been deep cleaned and detailed. All guitars will arrive looking and playing great. The frets have been dressed/polished and the fingerboard was cleaned. (Unfinished Rosewood and Ebony boards get treated with Fret Doctor - a proprietary all natural oil that is the best on the market) It was professionally set up and has brand new strings, the action was adjusted, the intonation is spot on and it plays excellent. All the electronics work flawlessly.







Neck is perfectly straight and the truss rod works with no issues



Intonation is spot-on



It has been professionally set up with nice low action & new American made strings. 



If needed, the frets will be dressed leveled & crowned 



All frets are polished prior to shipping when they are set up - They will shine like new!

The guitar MUST BE RETURNED IN THE EXACT CONDITION it was received or it is subject to a restocking fee. I am not a big chain shop, I hope you understand.
