About This Listing

Gibson 1916/1935 L-1 Conversion Archtop Guitar:

For your consideration, I have decided to sell this very special adaption of the Gibson L-1 model originally built in 1916, then sent to back Gibson in 1935 for updates to include new f-hole top, bridge and 35' neck.  All original hardware was reinstalled as per the letter from Mr. Joe Spann (attached) dated from January 13, 2016 from Gruhn Guitars.

Overall, the guitar is very clean to include OHSC. There is a slight separation line at the back and upper side near heel but appears to be secure, please see photo.  Tonally, this one very unique with it's small body size yet can cut through when especially used for rhythm chording. The 1935 neck is very comfortable as compared to the original style, soft V profile similar to others of this era.  The setup is very good, no buzzing nor any fret concerns.  All in all, a very interesting "one off" model that never existed in Gibson's archtop line of guitars!

Please contact me with any questions.
