The Angela II recording console was an enhanced and refined version of the now famous original 'Angela' console. With an installed user base of over 500 desks the original Angela console went on to achieve legendary status amongst console owners, producers and engineers for its phenomenal sound, advanced feature set and effortless ease of operation. This popularity was confirmed by the fact that up until 1993 approximately one Angela was produced and sold every week for more than a decade.

The success of Angela was very much based upon its much-loved Mic Amp and EQ, the flexibility of its signal paths & routing systems and the fact it incorporated a true dual-path input module, allowing two entirely separate signals to be passed through the module at the same time.

These pioneering ideas have been further developed in the Angela II console.

Unlike traditional in-line modules, which have limited facilities in the monitor section, the Angela II utilised two input paths, each including fader and mute automation, as well as identical comprehensive 4-band equalisation. Denoted 'Channel' and 'Mix', the two paths provided versatile inputs, enabling Mic, Line, Bus, Tape and Effects sources to be handled with ease. Access to the 24 routing buses was available from either path and 8 aux buses could be shared between them as required.

The visually impressive Angela II held up to 40 modules and provided a total of 80 inputs, which can be allocated to sources as required. Practically speaking, sources of all types including effects, sound module and sampler outputs could be permanently connected to the inputs, reducing the need to repatch the console with each change of project. This saved time and avoid operator confusion, as the same signal could always be found in the same place.
