Here's a beautiful new Jesselli, which Joe Jesselli himself is extremely excited for. It's the first iteration of his new Modernaire Style 2, which was to be named the Solid Body Modernaire; however Jesselli has decided to make these instruments completely hollow inside, like most of his guitars.

Joe developed this body design a few years back and built one prototype before building this guitar. The prototype was named the "Creme Brulee" which featured a solid body, non-figured woods, and very light ornamentation, as it was a test/prototype build. This guitar instead features a one-piece, hollow, flame Maple body paired with a 1/4" sawn Rock Maple neck. The fingerboard material is a rare and very brightly colored piece of high quality Santo Domingo Mahogany. The guitars binding is made of water buffalo horn. You can also see binding around the headstock and a custom truss-rod cover made of watusi horn and
ancient mastodon ivory. The inlays on the fingerboard are intricate upside-down triangle shapes made of both ancient mastodon ivory and water buffalo horn. Going to the tuning buttons these are also made in house by Jesselli out of gold-plated bronze and English Kip leather.

The body is intricately carved out until hollow. Joe does this by routing the guitar out through the back plate of the body. The top is flat with the sides
of the body being hand carved, as only a master wood worker could do. This design follows your right arm in a natural way that makes it feel as this
guitar is an extension of the player’s body. There are also many lines that are carved purely for esthetical purposes and beauty.

Jesselli braces these compact hollow bodies by carving the braces into the actual one piece maple body. These are light braces we are talking about, because the maple used is thicker than an average arch-top; as to not cause unwanted feedback. This is the same reason there are no sound holes on the guitar. Most Jesselli’s are at their finest when played through a quality amplifier. While playing clean, you can really hear the magic these guitars create due to their unique acoustic properties. They have a depth and vibe unlike anything else out there. Remember Joe started his professional career as Jimmy D’Aquisto’s only in-house apprentice and right hand man. So he has the deepest understanding of acoustic, flat-top and electric guitar construction. What you get with a Jesselli is the best qualities of all three build styles.

Just like every section of a Jesselli guitar, you'll find many handmade parts. The adjustable bridge is built out of Santo Domingo Mahogany with mammoth ivory saddles that are each perfectly hand intonated and angled. The tailpiece looks like rope and is made from gold-plated bronze with water buffalo horn inlays. The knobs are also Santo Domingo Mahogany, horn and exhibition grade 8th" thick Mother of Pearl (MOP). The two switch tips are also built out of horn.

The pickups are a medium output P-90-like design in a mini-humbucker sized housing Joe came up with. They are hand wound by Vintage Vibe Guitar Pickups. They have plenty of girth, fidelity, and chime. These pickups sound great both clean and dirty and have many applications that they excel at musically. Everyone from Rock to Jazz players will be able to appreciate the warm, woody, clear tone this work of art produces. The pickups are covered in English Kip Leather, surrounded by handmade pickup rings of machined, then hand finished gold-plated bronze and Italian tortoise celluloid.

The scale-length of this Jesselli is 24 ¾” for a slinky feel and for ease when fretting complex chords. The frets are the perfect medium
modern height and width, at about 0.048” tall and 0.096” wide.

The action is nice and low and the guitar features a zero-fret (aka fret nut) this allows for the player to never over-play the frets in first position, which can accidently bend notes sharp. This design also allows the action to be very uniform from the 1st
to last fret, not ever getting too high in the upper registers. Jesselli’s guitars are uniquely fretted and bound. The nut width on this guitar is 1 11/16”, then the guitar is bound with what Jesselli calls “stepped binding” where the binding has
two tiers and is slightly wider than the nut width So, you get the entire playing space of the 1 11/16” fingerboard plus an additional 16th of extra
space when you include the binding. Many guitars state that they have a 1 11/16” wide nut width, but because of how much the frets are rounded, you lose about a 16th of an inch in playing space. A couple of other notable features are the “finger
locks” Joe builds into the back of the neck. The “finger locks” are carved portions of the neck, that lock your hand into place when playing near the headstock or heel.

This Jesselli guitar comes with a fitted Ameritage hard shell case, with both a humidifier and dehumidifier installed. It also has a hygrometer to measure the relative humidity in the case. Joe made a matching adjustable leather strap and set of tools to adjust any of the hex screws that are on the guitar. The strap features strap locks that fit into the body. The body has three holes for the strap. One at the bass side horn and two on the lower bout, so that the player can fine tune its length to taste.

If the international shipping rate is more than the cost to ship the guitar, you will be reimbursed the balance. Write us to find out exactly how much it will cost to ship this guitar to you, if you live outside of the United States.
