About This Listing

Quick notes: 1) This is consigned. 2) I've done it all up and it's ready to go! 3) Please read the following text for full details and specs -- it's borrowed from my original blog post on it...

I have no idea about Gould guitars -- are they Chinese? Korean? It doesn't really matter, though, either way. The quality level is along the lines of same-time Korean guitars. It has a solid (poplar or basswood) body with a roughly 1/2" maple cap on top with a 1/32" veneer of flamed maple for the face. So it's built a lot like a Les Paul, though without mahogany used for the back.

This one's here on consignment and came in with an oddball, non-original neck pickup that I swapped-out for a Guitar Fetish Alnico II humbucker that gives this a bit of a '50s voice at the neck. I like it -- even if the look is rough-and-ready.

In fact -- post-work, the guitar handles a lot like the real thing but it's a little lighter overall and, of course, has the thicker poly finish you expect of import guitars. The Kluson-style tuners are also not as good as the real thing but work just fine.

It has actual pearl bling in the fretboard and headstock veneer and is bound both on the top and back of the body. The neck is similar to modern Les Pauls and electrics in general -- thin, C-shaped, and fast -- and so will be "home base" to a lot of players. It has a roughly 12" board radius, though, so my hands (which like 7-12" radius boards) feel a lot more at home than on a lot of modern, 14-20" radius boards.

Repairs included: fret level dress, restring, replacement (upgrade) neck pickup, cleaning, setup.

Body wood: solid poplar or basswood back, 1/2" maple cap, 1/32" flamed maple veneer on top

Bridge: TOM-style

Fretboard: rosewood

Neck wood: mahogany-like

Pickups: 1x GFS Alnico II humbucker, 1x standard bridge humbucker

Action height at 12th fret: 1/16" overall (fast)

String gauges: 46w-10 lights

Neck shape: slim C

Board radius: ~12"

Truss rod: adjustable, nearly to its end, though

Neck relief: straight

Fret style: medium

Scale length: 24 3/4"

Nut width: 1 11/16"

Body width: 13"

Body depth: 1 3/4" +arching

Condition notes: it has mild playwear here and there throughout but is overall quite clean. The neck pickup is a replacement but it's otherwise original throughout. The three-way switch back cover's recess doesn't fit perfectly with the plate.
