For sale: A Fender Standard Telecaster, Made in Mexico, with a number of hardware and electronic upgrades. Body and neck year are unknown, but I acquired it around 2005 from the original owner.
- Weight: About 8.5 lbs.
- Pickups: Both are aftermarket: DiMarzio True Velvet DP 178 in the bridge, and an Alnico 5 Duncan Designed TE-101 in the neck. If you're interested, I can also include the original ceramic Fender neck pickup, but I found the Duncan Designed was a much better, less muddy match for the DiMarzio. In-between position 2 sound is exactly what you'd want.
- Bridge: Wilkinson compensated 3 brass barrel. Allows through-string or rear-loading of strings.
- Neck: Original neck, tuners and frets, with a new Tusq nut and a StewMac wood shim for improved action.
- Electronics: New CTS 250k solid-shaft pots, 3-way switch.
- Wear: Minimal. Frets are near-new. I've supplied pics of all major nicks I could see, the largest being a C-shaped paint crack at the neckplate (paint only -- the wood is not affected) and a number of love-scrapes on the bottom rear.
- Sound: Full, balanced, no-frills, unmistakably Alnico 5 Tele tone.
