1974 Madeira By Guild A-30M A Rare And Great Sounding Great Playing Dreadnaught Classic

Like what you see? Make me an offer!

This is Phoenix. After a long, leisurely, pampered life, she has risen to take her rightful place among the great jumbo acoustics. Phoenix has the rich, clean, booming, open voice that only comes with age. She is made from beautiful Flame (Tiger) Maple, with a solid spruce laminated top, maple neck and headstock, and a rosewood fretboard. Her strings are Martin Phosphor Bronze 11s and she comes with an extra set of Martin Eric Clapton Choice 13s. She received a complete cleaning and set up, and her action is low and very comfortable. I adjusted a very slight bellying with a JLD Bridge Doctor (there was no bridge lift) and she retains all the resonance and detail only found in a quality dreadnaught.

Madeiras were assembled in Japan from the same wood used by parent company Guild. After assembly, they were returned to the Guild factory where their technicians did the final adjustments and set up. Although considered Guild’s budget line, Madeiras weren’t a ‘cheap’ guitar. An A-30M listed for $340 in 1979, about $1,200 today!

Whether you are looking for your first guitar, a player, something to gig and bust with, or a vintage dreadnaught acoustic, Phoenix is the perfect guitar, ready for her second 50 years. Accessories include a quality heavy gig bag with backpack straps, strap, capo, tuner, picks, and an extra set of Martin Eric Clapton Choice strings.

"A beauty. I bought that exact guitar in 1974 and still play it every day."
