For sale is a beautiful example of one of the most desireable finishes in the world of drums. This 1969 set is factory matched, all sold together in May of 1969 as demonstrated by the stamps inside the toms and the proximity of the serial numbers. I am not sure whether the kit was originally sold under the "Big Beat" or "Hollywood" model name, as they're very similar kits. What really sets this kit apart is the condition of the wrap; collectors know that most Psych Red kits are prone to fading, particularly in the greens, but this set shows almost no fading at all in any color. The greens are still vibrant and all the colors still pop like they just came from the factory. The kit is 95% original to my knowledge; all non-original pieces are minor and described below. Included in this set are:

- 20" kick drum. Most of these sets were sold with a 22" bass drum, but this one has a less common 20" kick! 9/10 condition, mostly original parts. The screw that holds the tom arm in is a modern replica, and there's a small (~10") section of the hoop inlay that isn't original. It's small enough to be unnoticeable when facing the floor, and a section of reproduction inlay is there in its place. Spurs are somewhat pitted, which is to be expected as they are constantly under friction from sliding in and out. Hoops have flaked a little and appear to have been touched up at some point; I elected to leave them as-is. Wrap/chrome hardware have minor scratches/pitting that are invisible from 3+ feet away.
- 12" rack tom. 9/10 condition, all original parts. Nut that holds the tom bracket to the arm has some pitting, but it's totally functional. Small spot of tom rash, which you can see in the photos. Minor scratching and pitting, unnoticeable from 3+ feet.
- 13" rack tom. 9.5/10 condition, all original parts. Minor scratching and pitting, unnoticeable from 3+ feet
- 16" floor tom. 9/10 condition, all original parts. One of the legs has a bit more pitting, the others are good. As usual, minor scratching and pitting, unnoticeable from 3+ feet.
- 14x5" Supraphonic snare, sold with the kit in 1969! Shell is in 9.5+/10 condition, with almost none of the usual chrome pitting issues that you see in Supras. Lugs are 9/10, with minor pitting. All original hardware, including strainer, butt plate, and snare wires! Only non original part that I can find is a small mounting screw for the butt plate, almost unnoticeable. Includes factory original Atlas snare stand, 9/10 condition!
