A lovely chocolate brown lapsteel from Black Walnut, with caramel colored Curly Koa racing stripe, binding, and veneered pickup bobbin, and a Wenge fingerboard with Maple lines and Holly dots!

*I've left 3 1/4" room behind the bridge on this build, due to the frequency of info requests asking whether or not my steels will fit Certano Benders.  Some will, and some will not.  This build will satisfy that urge.  Giddyup.
Should you buy this instrument and supply your own Certano, I'd be glad to install it for $8 (the cost of fresh strings).  The bridge's saddle has graduated slots, which, if lubricated just lightly with either lithium grease or vasoline, will function very nicely with a bender system.*

The body is weight relieved (chambered) under portions of the fingerboard for optimal comfort.  The scale length is 24", with a bridge string spacing of 2 5/8" overall (.375" string to string) and a nut string spacing of 2 1/2"(.357"), for a mild taper.  The body belly tapers thinner as it approached the underside of the nut, as well, for both comfort and a fluid aesthetic.  The body also rolls away from the bass side of the fingerboard for a faceted look and more pam room when playing up there.  I've wound the pickup to 12.6kOhm with 42awg Elektrisola magnet wire.  It features 1/4" Alnico magnets and a lacquered steel plate underneath (closely approximating the magnetic field difference/harmonics experienced in Tele bridge pickups) -- it is wax potted for optimally quiet single coil operation, and features a traditional Forbon baseplate and my own multi-ply koa/wenge/koa top.  The control cavity is copper shielded and holds two 500K CTS audio taper pots, with a .047uF cap for the tone -- It boo-wahs!  Standard Switchcraft output jack in an Electrosocket jack cup.  It has black knurled metal knobs, but I can also offer black speed knobs if you prefer the visual convenience of digits.  The nut is filed to accommodate a range of strings, and string changes are a breeze with the slotted bridge.  The always handy and reliable 18:1 locking-and-trimming Planet Waves tuning machines live on the headstock, as well.  There is one of my last few quirky 'old style' rg logo medallions of ebony/koa/holly set into the headstock, and I've signed the show side of the neck.  The bridge is a one-off design and was milled in-shop, and it stands about 5/8" off of the body.  This instrument is finished in a low maintenance UV cured satin poly and comes strung with SIT A6 strings.

Includes a gig bag and ships to continental US locations at actual cost. It is listed at $50 shipping, as Reverb requires a preemptive 'best guess' shipping cost instead of more sensibly providing an actual shipping cost option at time of shipping purchase, and that (~$50) has been a rounded average of shipping lapsteels lately. Should actual shipping at the time of printing out the shipping label within Reverb exceed $50 I will invoice the difference after providing proof of actual cost to get it to your address. Ships UPS insured Ground.
