Up for sale is a rare J.R. Stewart Le Domino Soprano Ukulele. This little gem is in very good condition and you will be hard pressed to find another in this condition anywhere. There are a couple of hairline cracks in the finish but it is quite playable and a one of a kind design. It cannot be any newer than 91 years old as J.R. Stewart went bankrupt in 1930 and sold out to another company which made them differently. He made them from 1925 - 1930. Whomever originally owned this played it quite a bit and took very good care of it as I can see a little wear at the first frets. There are a few dings as shown in the photos. The original tuning pegs were made of celluloid and have shrunk and cracked and will be included with it but I also took the liberty to cast some in epoxy that are as near as possible to the ivory color they once were. I couldn't justify spending hundreds on another sad example of this ukulele only to salvage cracked and broken pegs. One of the pegs that were on it when acquired is black. I have seen the exact same black pegs on Gibson ukuleles so it is highly likely that J.R. Stewart sourced his pegs in white from Gibson back then. You can go here to see the J.R. Stewart story at
ukulelemag.com and searching J. R. Stewart or Le Domino. It's an interesting story and all in all this is one of the finest examples of this ukulele left in existence.
