Here we have a super rare Italian made Diamond Ranger. This guitar found its way to the United States in very limited numbers. If you go to the web and research this little guy you might come up short. The parent company is Dega-Morbidoni. They made finely crafted accordions and then turned their eyes to the electric guitar.
In the early sixties on the other side of the pond the Fender Musical company had established themselves as the leading electric guitar manufacturer state side. This was great for the American audience, but not so good for the Europeans who wanted interesting electric guitars. The idea of getting your hands on a Telecaster was crazy talk to Europeans.
In steps the Diamond Ranger. Dega-Morbidoni designed fancy looking guitars that reflected art deco design elements. This new look quickly spread across Europe filling the needs of players from Italy to Spain. When the design made its way back across the pond heading towards the United States it was Branded Diamond. Very few of these were produced for the US.
It just so happens, The Upper Bout has acquired one of these beauties. This little guy is in great shape and plays very well. The original diamond is missing from the pickguard, and the headstock finish is faded. The original hardshell case is no longer a part of the guitar. Otherwise, this guitar is in great shape.
