This Lyle absolutely rips! Big beautiful chords that are good for any Neil Young song, but light and nimble enough to play Steve Howe’s “The Clap” while standing and wearing a strap. Super epic guitar!

I will say this right here and right now, Lyle guitars are the best guitars that came out of the famed Japanese Matsumoku factory. That factory was allegedly huge and and they were making hundreds of guitars daily under a bunch of different brand names. The factory was so big they had bike paths inside it so people could get from one end to another. I’ve played a lot of Matsumoku guitars and Lyles are the ones that have survived the best into this day and age. I think they had the best geometry, the neck angles are always super perfect so the action can be super low and comfortable. The fret work is great, the intonation is great, the sounds are huge and gorgeous. They’re super nice guitars. I don’t exactly know how that factory was set up, but Lyle seems to have been it’s own sovereign entity within that factory that was super high quality. My main nylon string I’ve had and loved for years is a Lyle, I totally swear by them.

As an instrument, this guitar is just as perfect as I’d ever want an acoustic guitar to be. Neck is straight, action is low and comfortable, string response is nice and bouncy, and I love the smaller O body size (more comfortable than a full dreadnaught). It’s in great condition overall! There’s a few minor battle scars and a bit of the headstock veneer has lifted just a tiny bit, but it’s a perfect player and a really inspiring instrument. I seriously can’t stop playing it, it’s a lovely guitar!

Great live guitar because of the smaller size, it’s a lot more comfortable to play with a strap than a dreadnaught. Wonderful classic 70’s guitar with a lot of songs in it!
