"Collectors" Gibson ES-335 Showcase Edition 1988 | Extremely Rare 1 of 200 Made for US

The Gibson ES-335 SC Showcase Edition was made in 1988 as a very limited run of only 200 guitars for the United States and 50 for the rest of the world. It's a standard ES-335 with a creamy white finish, killer looking black hardware and active EMG pickups. To power the EMGs, a standard 9 volt battery goes in an access panel on the back.

This is a stunning 29 year old vintage guitar and very, very rare to find one in excellent condition. It's 100% original with minimal play wear. The original frets look next to new. The finish and binding is just beginning to beautifully relic with the "finish checking" and "yellowing" we've all admired on vintage white Gibson guitars. Check out the photos closely to see what I'm talking about. The finish checking and yellowing are all natural aging characteristics of this special edition guitar that do not effect its playability other than making the guitar look vintage and way cooler! And it'll keep looking better and better as it ages.

Here's what you'll see in the photos. There is some slight discoloration and a tiny pin hole on the headstock from time on a wall hanger in my studio. Some natural play wear discoloration on the back of the neck. Finish checking beginning around the top f-hole, stop tail and a few spots around the body and neck binding..  Again, all relic is from natural aging. This is not a cheap guitar.. so if you need to see more pictures, just let me know.

Even better than how cool this guitar looks is the sound.  The aged wood of the semi-hollowbody resonates and sustains exceptionally well. The active EMG pickups are phenomenal sounding with an extremely wide variety of tones from chimey and sparkley cleans to that thick bluesy ES hollowbody sound to all out crunch. I was amazed at how well the pickups sounded compared to other ES-335's I've played. This guitar really does it all.

Comes with its original Gibson plush-lined brown hard shell case with the combo lock never set. The red plastic holder pin from the factory is still in it!

I've taken exceptional care of this guitar for the nearly 20-years that I've owned it. And I'll take exceptional care packing and shipping it to the lucky new owner in a very strong guitar box. Whoever buys this wonderful instrument will not be disappointed.
