New info: I was asked about fret wear. I have now included a pic of the 5th fret. You be the judge but they look darn good for a 35+ yr old guitar, tons of wear left but I hesitate to numerically judge it because I'm not a luthier. Also, I need to disclose that the case has the folk artists name stenciled on the outside of the case for ID when performing. The case is 9.8/10 .. maybe a little dusty on the outside but completely sound without defects. Finally, I actually rate the guitar as Excellent formally. I withold "Mint" formally because the thin film pic guard has some rash. When taking pics of the fret I thought it would be good to disclose as best I can the rash on that film because it is very hard to make out in any of my other pics. Please ask questions .. better than have any surprises :)
This awesome instrument was purchased from The Larrivee Custom Shop sometime between 1984 and 1985 by Joe Bethancourt, who made quite a name in Folk Music in Arizona and round-about, earning a place in the Folk Music Hall of Fame shortly after he died just a couple of years ago. Joe custom-ordered this guitar with stunning inlay all over the guitar, called "Leaf & Flower #1" (back then, according to sources at Larrivee, who validated the serial number and specific makeup of this beautiful piece). It is going to be nearly one-of-a-kind today and is absolutely incredible condition. I would call it MINT except the clear film guard has some light scuffing from the few times it was actually played. (MINT- ?) Indian Rosewood adorns the back and sides, Mohogany and African Ebony in the usual places. This is a hand-made custom order by Joe over 30 years ago. I bought it from his estate thinking I would play it for the remainder of my life, only to be diagnosed with Parksinsons before I ever got any play time. It has been properly humidified and case-stored. The wood is hydrated as it should be. I need to sell this beautiful piece to someone who can appreciate it's rich and warm tones, aged-in lovingly over the last 30 some years. It truly has a personality all its own. Make sure and See the Video!! The equal today, according to Larrivee, is $5100 from the custom shop.
