This is a 2003 Epiphone Elite (Elitist) Broadway, a 17 inch, solid spruce top, deep bodied, hollow archtop electric, 25 1/2 inch scale length. The earliest Elite series guitars, later renamed Elitist, had the motto, "Second To None". They were true premium guitars built in Japan, built to match the quality of Gibsons. This one was built the very first year in the Terada factory, when Epiphone was working really hard to demonstrate the quality of the series. Their pickups were American made. I owned a sixties Gibson L5 CES and can attest that this guitar plays as well and sounds as good as my Gibson did. The woods are actually more beautiful than my Gibson's. I switched the pickguard, tailpiece, and knobs to get the look of an L5 CES and will include all the original Epiphone parts with the sale. For $100 less, I will send the guitar in its original configuration and I'll keep the Gibson style parts (the tailpiece is especially hard to find and expensive). The action on this guitar is truly exceptional and effortless. The electric sound is superb, very Wes Montgomery on the neck pickup, quite twangy on the bridge pickup. The finish has a very few dings and minor scrapes, but I didn't even realize they were there until I started carefully photographing the finish. In general, the guitar looks mint unless you look very carefully. This guitar's construction is a tiny bit more stout than my former L5 and the back is ply so it is slightly less prone to feedback than L5s are, a good thing for amplified playing. Fixed shipping to the continental US is $60. No foreign bids accepted.
