1968 Fender Showman Reverb Amp. Model TFL 5000D. I don't know a lot about this particular amp or model to be honest. I believe the Showman Reverbs were effectively a Twin Reverb in head format. I know that 1968 was the first year for this model and that the circuit can be easily modified to BF Twin Reverb specs. The amp has already had some service work done to it, though I don't know what exactly as it was performed prior to my ownership. I'm also not a tech so I'm afraid I can't comment on which components might have been replaced. Most of the wiring inside the amp is that "cloth covered" type, as opposed to the plastic coated wiring that followed soon after SF amps were introduced. One issue I noticed is that the Bright switch on the Normal channel is missing the screws that hold it in place, so those will need to be replaced (would likely cost 50 cents and 2 mins of your time). I'm not aware of any other issues however and the amp is working/sounding as expected. I don't have a footswitch to test either the reverb or tremolo effects so I can't comment on those either.
Please note, this is a vintage amplifier that's nearly 50 years old and as such, I can't guarantee how long each & every component will continue to function without further service. Finally, these early ones are harder to find and, because they can be "blackfaced" quite easily, there appears to be some demand for them. Anyway, this is a great opportunity to own a classic at an affordable price.
I guarantee the amp is exactly as described & pictured here and I pack like a pro so there'll be no unpleasant surprises when it arrives. Despite being a head, the amp is still heavy and the packaging required to adequately protect it will be big & bulky. Shipping cost then to CONUS (via UPS Ground from Zip 13640) or Canada (via FedEx Ground from K7K 4L8 in Ontario so no tax/brokerage) is fixed at $75. If there's any issue or concern upon arrival, for any reason, let me know so I can deal with it. Please ask all pertinent questions before purchase and I'm confident everything will go smoothly.
