Roland MC-8 MicroComposer 1977

For sale is a historic digital sequencer from Roland, the MC-8 Microcomposer. A milestone in digital sequencing, the MC-8 is an incredibly powerful 8-channel polyphonic sequencer used extensively by Giorgio Moroder, Isao Tomita, and many others. A true museum piece, this particular unit comes in its original boxes and includes the original book of patches as well as the connection cable to the MC-8 Interface. Only 200 units were ever produced and this is number 138! This unit has been recently serviced and functions very well.

In the attached video, I've loaded an original factory song: Bach Two Part Invention #1. The MC-8 sequences an external synthesizer (not included).

The MC-8 represents a milestone in electronic music. Very few units are in existence, and almost none in working shape. With 8 CV and GATE outs, as well as a built-in portamento control and DIN outs as well. It has external CV and GATE in and can record incoming sequences played on an external keyboard or sequencer. The MC-8 is a powerful tool when controlling modular systems polyphonically. I have been able to test the following features and can confirm they work normally: a) CV outs b) GATE outs c) Portamento Control d) Audio Data In e) All performance controls (tempo, start/ stop/ etc).
