Welcome to another fine guitar from The Old Europe! Please make sure to read the entire description below carefully, and look at all the pictures.

General introduction and background:

Super nice "Asco" LP-style guitar. Built in the second half of the 1970s or early 1980s in South Korea by Samick.

Unfortunately, the brand "Asco" was never officially registered, so I couldn't find out yet to whom it belonged. However, I think it was a trade label of some German music instruments retail store or distributor.

Measurements, weight and other specs:

-     Scale: 628 mm

-     Nut: 41,5 mm

-     Weight: 3,5 kg

-     Pickups: unlabelled singlecoils in humbucker housings; could be replaced by any other standard sized humbuckers.

-     Body: multiply of unknown wood.

-     Neck: likely mahoganey with some darkwood fingerboard

-     Body: some dings and dongs, lacquer damages and small scratches and fissures, but nothing serious. Please have a close look at all the pictures. Somebody painted a lightning bolt on the pickguard - I left it there as the removal would have inflicted more damage to it than leaving it.

-     Neck: straight neck, good frets with some minor wear (8/10), truss rod works well; There are traces of previously used different tuners on the back of the headstock. I put in a set of original tuners.

-     Electronics: fully functional, standard layout, the pickups are out-of-phase when in combined mode; this can be remedied by dialing back on either of the volume knobs just a bit. Typical for Asco branded guitars.

-     Hardware: fully functional, all cleaned but minor traces of corrosion and age remain.

-     Originality: All original as far as I can tell

Sound and Playability:

-     Playability and string action: The guitar plays easily with a good string action currently set to 1,7 mm on the 12th fret, low and medium-narrow vintage frets, slender neck (41,5mm nut, V-profile). Warm and airy sounds from the pickups; the guitar sounds nicely clean when played acoustically.

 - Intonation: spot on, adjustable with the bridge (and adjusted by myself)

-     Sound: vintage funky single coil sounds from the pickups, airy, chimey, warm. Nice funky sound when out-of-phase. Please watch the video for a reference.
