Pro-built custom '70's CBS-style Stratocaster®. Another personal build of mine, using selected and custom-made WARMOTH, Fender® and other Fender-licensed components, the best of everything. True "Custom Shop" quality, no short-cuts, no compromises - every screw, tuner, electronic part and solder-joint is precise and correct.
This project was inspired by 3 of my favorite players- Walter Trout, Robin Trower and Jimmy Thackery. Build sheet with all details included. $1,500. in materials, components invested, plus new $300.00 Fender vintage-repro hard-shell case included. I built this for myself as a keeper, not for re-sale, but due to nerve injury in left hand, I can no longer play.
BODY - Warmoth Custom 2-pc. Swamp Ash, routed S-S-S.
FINISH - custom cream color paint by Warmoth, custom vintage-style celluloid Tortoise Shell pick guard.
NECK - New Warmoth maple large-headstock w/vintage tint poly finish, chunky 'C' back profile. 4 screw attachment for maximum stability. 6105 frets leveled, crowned & polished by Greg Platzer.
FINISHED WEIGHT - 8.5 lbs. (8 lbs. 8 oz. )
CALLAHAM 'Vintage-S' trem. bridge w/billet steel spring block, nickel finish, S/S string saddles.
TUNERS - "Hipshot" locking vary-height tuners.
NUT - Graphtech "Tusq XL" nut, precision fitted for intonation and low action. 43mm (1 11/16") width
PICKUPS - GFS "Lil Killers" - custom-calibrated Strat set with individual coil-splitting (see Electronics re: coil-splitting switches.) Gutsy, high performance Strat® tones without the hum and good 2 & 4 switch position "quack."
RF SHIELDING - Pickup cavities, control and trem-spring routs are fully shielded with copper tape and shielding paint. A CALLAHAM aluminum full pickguard shield is installed.
ELECTRONICS - 5-way switching, tone-control "push-push" pots + mini-toggle for coil-splitting (neck pickup via mini-toggle, mid & bridge p/ups each via a tone control.) CTS 500k volume pot w/ "volume kit" (treble preserver,) 250k push-push tone pots, .022pf Sprague tone cap. 'PureTone' premium output jack.
Set Up with .10 - .46 strings, non-floating tremolo action for tuning stability. Will do custom setup if requested by buyer, including different string gauge if desired.
