Let’s look at the facts... when you are talking about professional instruments, the two most commonly sought after vintage acoustic guitar manufacturers are Martin and Gibson. That is no discredit to the other guitars who are doing it and doing it well. But in the USA these two have been doing it the longest, and only one of these companies is still run by the family, The Martin Guitar Company. There is no doubt that these two dominate the pro market, and with good reason. Regardless of the shortcomings you might hear some people say as to why they have something else, the fact is that for over 100 years, Martin and Gibson -more than any other maker, have catered to the high demands of more professional musicians who require quality, reliability, technical excellence, and innovation in their instruments.

In 1931 the Martin Company began producing Dreadnought guitars that carried the Martin name. Two models designated D–1 and D–2 made their debut. The D–1, like the earlier Ditsons, was a mahogany body instrument, destined to become the D–18. With the D–2 (four were made in 1931) Martin introduced what may still be the most popular style of steel–string guitar, the rosewood body Dreadnought. All of Martin’s early Dreadnoughts had the 12–fret neck of the Ditson design. It wasn’t until 1934 that D–28s and D–18s officially were offered with the 14–fret neck most consider standard today. Touted then as Martins largest model, many players were soon to add one to the line-up. Martin and Gibson’s acoustic guitars have been among the world’s most copied guitars..................This however is not a copy...this is the real thing!

  A MODERN CLASSIC NITRO LACQUER

LIGHTWEIGHT AND RESONANT

 1937 D-28 Authentic!!

This 1937 D-28 Authentic pre VTS aging system– having rear-shifted scalloped bracing, non-adjustable T-bar truss rod and all its connected components adhere through the use of hide glue. Believe it or not – laboriously using this rare glue on a replica guitar, from the first triad, brings the player back 78 years. This primordial binder is combined with Madagascar rosewood – yes, our dear old friend -- a sister (both being from the Dalbergia family) of Brazilian rosewood – on the headplate, back and sides, proffering the closest look and the most proximate sound to the world’s most precious tonewood.   We present to you a 14-fret Dreadnaught Model made with an aging-toner enhanced, solid Adirondack “Red” Spruce top, bone nut and saddle, vintage gloss finish pre VTS, Waverly brand nickel-plated butter-bean tuners, and a Delmar convincingly tortoise type tear-drop pickguard. Other features include solid Adirondack 5/16” bracing, a Madagascar headstock overlay, wood parquetry zigzag back stripe that is, itself, circa 1937 in provenance, grained ivoroid endpiece, body bindings, bold herringbone face border, a 1 3/4th” fingerboard width at the nut, and a 2 1/8” string spacing at the saddle, diamond and square fingerboard inlays in the long “Golden Era” pattern, a 1930s style ebony belly bridge with a long saddle. If sixty grand for a bona fide original ’37 is just a little beyond the pale, right now, this brilliant and beautiful beacon of blissful benevolence, for a mere fraction of that longed for lordly luxury, will, like a sated pelican, fill the bill.
The Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 pre VTS offers the deep bass response you expect from a full bodied guitar. Yet it also has a high-end presence that sings out even in heavy instrumentation. Martin's D-28 Authentic 1937 pre VTS is both loud and subtle, and has a quick response.

          I RATE THIS GUITARS CONDITION A 10/10

I have no issues to rate this guitars condition at 10/10 - being reserved for those guitars fresh from the factory and still in the dealers hands as that is the situation..
This guitar has been lightly played, and only remove from the box for the purposes of photographing it. It has been de-tuned, re-boxed and is ready for shipment. The finish and hardware are exactly how it came from the Martin factory. Everything works perfectly. The guitar is set up with medium-low action with slight relief, setup professionally by the Martin Custom Shop luthiers. The fingerboard is pristine and unmarked, and it looks great. This is an incredible guitar at a great price for a New D-28 1937 Authentic pre VTS and is guaranteed to be a collector and is a genuine player.

 ...THIS IS ACOUSTIC SOUND
A quality acoustic guitar is all about the wood, and the Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 pre VTS delivers no-compromise quality. The top is of solid Adirondack spruce. Similar to high-elevation European alpine spruce, this wood was abundant in the 1930s and used on Martin guitars of that era. Its extraordinary tone, prized for its projection and tonal clarity, contributes significantly to the D-28 Authentic 1937 pre VTS's sound. It's back and sides are made of solid Madagascar rosewood, a classic Martin material. The Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 pre VTS back is further reinforced with periodic-authentic Adirondack braces. A solid mahogany neck with solid black ebony fingerboard gives the Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 pre VTS awesome playing ease to match its awesome sound! The Martin guitar is true to all types of acoustic US music especially Country, Folk, Bluegrass, Rock and Jazz. I’m not sure Pop qualifies as music- I’m checking into that. The sustain and tonal character of this guitar are unique to this guitar from the use of the harder Ebony fingerboard, Rosewood body and the unique tonal character of the Red Spruce top. Characteristics of Red Spruce are similar to high elevation European alpine spruce. Red spruce was abundant in the 1930s and used on Martin guitars of that era. Its extraordinary tone, prized for its projection and tonal clarity, has created a resurgence of demand for “Adirondack” spruce.

RETURN POLICY:

I am always fair with my customers, of which none have ever been unhappy or wanted to return an instrument, But I do not want to leave my customers with a feeling that they would be stuck with something they just didn't like, especially for this amount of money. I also do not want to create an environment for people who would abuse the system to have a forum to buy a guitar and return it for full price like they were checking out a book at the library. So I have come up with a system that protects you from getting stuck with something you don't want and protects me from scamming customers (which is indeed the exception and not the norm- I have been lucky and sold guitars to many people over Reverb who are excellent people and would never take advantage or be dishonest in their intentions. There is a non-refundable 15% restocking fee for the return of this item. I the seller, may allow the buyer the option for a second chance to buy another guitar and this amount of the 15% restocking fee, may be applied toward the purchase of another instrument that I have for sale. This option is available at my discretion and is not automatic upon the buyer’s request. Guitars returned for a refund must qualify and must be approved by me upon undergoing a thorough look over for evidence of tampering or damage. Providing that the item is returned in the exact condition it was sold and shipped in, I will grant a money back refund minus the 15% restocking fee. Damage or tampering to the guitar as determined by me the seller, may result in denial for a refund and will be shipped back to the buyer, or may include additional charges, and is determined at the sole discretion of the seller. In the event of a return, Damages incurred in shipping will not be the responsibility of the Seller and will be the responsibility of the buyer to initiate a claim with the shipping service. The Bidding or buying of this guitar is an act of agreement to these terms and is not negotiable.

I do all I can to accurately describe and depict the item with clear text and descent photographs, however all items are sold as is and returns will not be allowed except where an item shows up "dead on arrival" and it was not due to damage in transit.
