Today, Lawman Guitars is Presenting.. A very RARE Made in Japan Guitar. Its a 1975 Yamaki Co Dist Grande GS200 Dreadnought. It is hardly played. The frets are still like new and the saddle has never been lowered on the bridge. Interesting guitar. Yamaki Guitars are quite sought after but don't realize the high dollars that some Japanese Manufacturers do. They made guitars starting in 1954. The Grande Guitars were imported by Leigh Distributing Co of Minneapolis MN from 1975 to 1978. I am calling this one a 1975 just because. It could any of those years. No serial numbers on these. This particular guitar has a SOLID Spruce top and Rosewood back and sides. I can guess that the reason it doesn't have much play on it is because of the finish hazing that occured on one small spot on the lower top, the back and sides. See pics. That occurs from humid conditions or excess perspiration from heavy play. There is no heavy playing on this guitar. I think it may have gotten damp on the trip over the seas and was never sold. This guitar has floated around the Des Moines area and ended up in a small shop. I would not have known what it was except for the Yamaki Stamp inside the sound hole imprinted on the back brace. Very cool guitar. Except for the finish hazing, the guitar is in really good shape. It plays great and the action can certainly be lowered even more if desired by sanding the bridge saddle down a little. I think it plays great right where it is. The sound is very Yamaha like. Bright with medium undertones thats quite distinctive. Nothing I can compare it to. Its very loud as most Dreadnoughts are. The guitar has a 15 1/2 inch wide x-braced body, a 25 1/4 inch scale neck with a 1 3/4 inch nut. The fretboard is probably Indian Rosewood and the tuners are very nice. No lifting of the bridge and again, except for the finish hazing, in really great condition. Ships in the newer Road Runner Deluxe Gigbag I got it in. Will help protect your cool guitar in transport and is an excellent highly padded gigbag for your cool Grande Guitar. Sold as is no returns as its vintage and used. However, I have been hand picking my customers instruments for over 20 years now and they all loved the guitars I found them. This cool Grande will certainly not be an exception.
