Altec Lansing 934 Monitor/ Loudspeaker System with Altec Lansing 904-8a Duplex drivers. Based on the design of the legendary Altec Lansing 604 duplex drivers, the 904-8a can handle more power for sound reinforcement applications. They were the drivers selected for the original Pink Floyd " The Wall" tour in the 1980-1981. A super efficient loudspeaker (even by today's standards), requiring less amplifier power to achieve greater SPL. While our ears are being fooled into thinking line arrays "sound good" at large venues, there is nothing quite like an Altec Lansing coaxial driver to settle the point source vs line source myth, especially for smaller venues or listening rooms.  
Note: These complete factory Altec cabinets are priced at less than the price of the individual drivers and a third less than what one would expect to pay for individual 604 duplex drivers. I have an Altec 9440a power amp listed separately on marketplace that makes for a great listening experience.

Description The Altec Lansing 934 musical sound loudspeaker's system is a compact 2 way system designed specifically for the touring needs of the working musician. Although the system is extremely compact and easily portable, high performance sound is achieved with Altec Lansing’s advanced 16" model 904 - 8A duplex loudspeaker.

The 904 -8A is a 2 way coaxial loudspeaker that incorporates technological design advances to improve high frequency responses and dispersion while maintaining reproduction accuracy. The “Mantaray” horn delivers the same dispersion pattern at all frequencies within the rated frequency band. Off axis listeners hear essentially the same sound quality as On axis listeners.

The 904’s advanced compression driver includes Altec Lansing’s patented tangerine phasing plug to deliver smooth response at high frequencies. The “Symbiotik” diaphragm within the driver meets the high power applications of sound reinforcement and musical sound systems.
High efficiency of the 934 System enables 101 dB SPL to be produced just one Watt of power. At 100 watts, the output sound rises to a remarkable 120 dB SPL. Such high speaker efficiency enables the musician to reproduce needed sound with less amplifier power.
The built in dividing network and dual band equalizer ensures smooth, gradual equalization of mid and high frequencies. An equalizer defeats switch is provided to select single or dual control operation. At EQ on, separate controls are available for mid and high frequencies. At EQ off, a single control provides mid and high frequency attenuation.

Whether permanent or portable, the 934 rests comfortably on limited space stages, in nightclubs, discos, and where superior, powerful sound is required. Handling is simplified with heavy duty accessed handles, metal corner guards, and metal feet that interlock with cups on another 934 when stacked. Finished in mar resistant textured black with matching black knit cloth grille, the 934 resists wear and tear while keeping the professional appearance of an elegant performer.

All in all, the 934 is an extremely efficient system that offers excellent reproduction accuracy, low distortion an unsurpassed stereo imagery when multiple 934’s are used.
