Here's an amazing closet find. The mold maker for Dunlop Guitar Picks had ordered some of these from the Gibson custom shop in November of 1999 and only played 2 of them while this 3rd one was locked away new in the case sitting in a closet since he received it. He's a good friend of mine and he's about to retire soon, so he's having me list some equipment for him that he wants to sell.

According to Gibson, this is one of only 20 made in the ebony color from '99.

It has a custom vintage 50's era 10" fretboard radius vs. the typical 12" radius found on the newer Les Pauls. The scale length is the classic 24.75" and it has a very comfortable medium C custom neck carve. The pickups are '57 PAF reissues.
The total weight of the instrument is about 8.6 lbs.

There's a tiny bit of patina on the gold hardware from sitting in the case untouched for that long and very minimal natural checking on the maple top that you have to look very closely to see, but other than that the guitar is in near perfect condition for its age.

All that needed to be done when I found it was a very slight adjustment
to the intonation, the neck and action were all still dialed in.

All of the case candy and warranty cards are included in the case compartment. The strings are 10-46 tuned to standard tuning. Action is about 4/64" on the low E and about 3.5/64" on the high E at the 12th fret with a neck relief of about .010" at the 8th fret. It's an awesome specimen from one of Gibson's best eras in the Custom Shop.

From what I've seen online, this is quite a rare piece to find these days, especially new in the box.

In 1999 they cost $4,900 straight from the Gibson Custom Shop and with inflation, that's about $8,503 in today's money.

Since this is a real nitrocellulose finish, we recommend letting the guitar acclimate in the box for a couple of hours and in the case at room temperature for about 8 hours prior to opening if it arrives on a cold day.

The guitar will be insured, so any damage that occurs during shipping will be covered with a full refund upon the guitar's return to us. Note that we do not honor any returns for damage that occurs from improper handling after the instrument is in your possession. We go through great lengths to make sure instruments are shipped properly and safely, so they arrive in the condition they were sent in.

Thanks for looking!
