About This Listing

Count to 5 by Montreal Assembly is a hard-to-define pitch-shifting delay/sampler/buffer manipulation/glitch/stutter effect pedal. at its core, Count to 5 is a digital delay buffer, and with each of its modes this buffer is manipulated in various ways to generate something new. in go your normal musical ideas - cool riffs, chuggy jams, bleeps n bloops, etc. - and out come... elaborated versions. fragmented effusions. stuttering eruptions. skittering serrations. things distinctly familiar yet expansive and new. the sound is - to my ears at least - oddly fractal, like if your ideas were stems and from them branches grew, and from those more branches, each iteration taking the form of the previous one but different in some key way - smaller or larger, brighter or darker, higher or lower, etc. etc. etc. and of course the tone morphs too - digital artifacts creep in, whittling away at the tone at higher pitches and adding uncertainty and elusive phasing at lower ones. with the default firmware, tape-like pitch shifting with optional quantization, random stutters and pitchy feedback are within reach; alternate firmwares unlock further worlds of multi-layer pitch delay/feedback with interwoven loops and more.

this Count to 5 Fifth Anniversary Edition is in mint condition with no scuffs, scratches or scrapes to speak of. the housing is adorned with a lovely and unique fifth-anniversary exclusive "connected circles" design (i believe the official name of this design is "version H") and no text anywhere except on the bottom of the pedal itself. none of the controls are labeled so this may not be the best model for someone who's new to the world of Count to 5 unless you like having a manual or a cheat sheet around. purchase includes the pedal shown along with the original box and a printed insert with information about the "Nightly" firmware that it came installed with. i currently have the standard Count to 5 firmware installed but would be happy to flash it with the Nightly firmware before shipping on request. requires standard center negative 9VDC power supply (not included). ships insured worldwide with free shipping within the USA. item is sold as-described with returns accepted at buyer's expense.
