About This Listing

Beyond rare, 70's Japan Cortez double neck 6/12.

Incredible concepts in this nicely built set neck guitar blows Gibson out of the water on many counts.

Shorter 12 string headstock , the Gibson one is just ridiculous.

One more switch, night and day difference. Independent pickup selection for each neck. Incredible "ghost" tones on tap, playing one neck while the selector is on the other.

Both necks are a full 22 frets and standard TOM bridge and tailpiece, a revelation compared to Gibson's short necks 20 fret necks and strange tailpieces.

Placement of knobs and switch is much more standard SG rather than Gibson's cramped knobs and switch a mile away.

Sidejack puts the cord out of the way and saves the front of the guitar getting busted up when cord stepped on, as seen on many old SG's.

Weight isn't too terrible for a huge guitar. The Gibsons weigh 13lbs.

The tuners have been switched over to Grovers. The strap buttons are all vintage Gibson. Gibson truss rod covers.

The pickups are fantastic vintage Gibson '57 Classics on the 12 string side, and vintage Seymour Duncan Alnico PAF's on the 6 string side.

Brand new Ernie Ball strings.

Plays and sounds amazing. Very fun to play, handles tuning changes very well.

This was some kind of special order maybe, the pickguard is engraved to player, who set it up with some kind of holder, there are screwholes in the back from the mounting bracket, I have no bracket available.

Original case is a very unusual find. This is a USA made case, or at least has vintage USA made hardware if it is Japanese.

If a guitar says Cortez, it is Japanese and they were not the parent company of Cort.

Some very fine copy guitars were sold under the Cortez name, made by Matsumoku, one of the premier vintage Japan electric and acoustic guitar builders, but here, rather than copying, they improve on Gibson's guitar where it needed it the most.

Smoke free studio use, fragrance free home.

USPS Priority Shipping, a bit higher on account of the extreme size and weight of guitar and case.
