This Custom Shop Les Paul was part of the single-pickup run done by the Music Zoo. This is the only one done in Vintage White. The guitar currently has a few modifications which were made by the previous owner. They include a Loller pickup with custom cover and ring, matching knobs, a series/parallel push-pull, and a Faber ABR. All of the original parts (pickup, ring, pots and Nashville TOM) will be included. I've included pictures of the guitar taken by the Music Zoo to show it in its original state, and with both sets of knobs (I put the originals back on).
The guitar is heavy, plays fantastic, and sounds very aggressive and loud with a thick '50s neck. The condition is outstanding, aside from a few light surface scratches, which don't show much at all on the white finish. You have to really look to find them. I've babied it since I got it, which is why I'm putting it up for sale. I'm looking for something I'll play a little more.
That said, I am open to trades. In fact, a partial trade would be ideal. As for things I'm interested in, ideally I'd like to find a black Les Paul Custom (any condition as long as it plays great), or really any non-burst LP, USA-made Jacksons, USA-made Charvels, non-Fender Tele shaped with HBs, possibly a PRS Single Cut, any PRS in pink or purple, possibly a nice 7 string, or a Twin Reverb. I also like anything V-shaped. These aren't the only things I'd consider though, so let me know what you have to offer.
The Music Zoo's original specs and description can be seen below. Feel free to contact me with any questions or offers. Thanks for looking!
One morning recently we were having coffee with our good friend Gary Blankenberg, a man who has probably forgotten more about guitars than most will ever know, and the topic of discussion was the Les Paul Junior. We agreed that it may be the ultimate rock and roll tone machine; the lean, single-pickup configuration just begs for it to be played wide open. Then Gary said, “Hey, you know what would be cool? A flametop burst with one pickup. Just one pickup and ‘Go.’” It was hard to argue with that logic, so we called up Gibson Custom Shop to discuss, and the Limited Run Single-Pickup ’58 Les Paul Figured Top was born. From there, the Single-Pickup Les Paul Custom came as well.
Featuring all the same specs as a Custom Shop Les Paul Custom; a carved maple top, mahogany body and neck, ebony fretboard, block inlays, stopbar tailpiece and tune-o-matic bridge, but with a single 498T humbucker in the bridge, the single pickup Les Paul Custom is no one trick pony. No neck humbucker allows more room for strumming, and utilizing the volume and tone controls allows you to get a wider variety of tones out of the guitar than one would think. You also can't beat the look of a classic vintage white finish with gold hardware, a Music Zoo favorite.
