At Holst Drumworks, we strive to put the same kind of thought and care in our drums as you'd see in boutique acoustic and electric instruments. Our tonewoods and hardware are all carefully chosen with punch, attack, and tone you're looking for. Handmade from Oregon sourced Black Walnut, this stave snare drum comes in at 7x14" and features a triple-flanged brass snare (resonant) rim for the best snare resonation and allows the drum to project, and a die case brass batter rim for focused attack and excellent "crack" on those rimshots.

With the same objectives in mind, the snare-side resonant bearing edge is a standard 45 degree for sustain and attack. The batter bearing edge is a vintage roundover with a reinforcement ring for a punchier attack and a truer fundamental pitch. The snare bed is hand cut with a Trick Drums GS007 Multi-step throw off for precise control.

The shell has been hand-sanded to 3000 grit, hand oiled and waxed to a satin finish to show off the incredible grains and features in the wood. Like any classic instrument, and because of the finish, this black walnut will continue to improve with age and provide years of fantastic tones. We're excited to hear you play on it!
