About This Listing

Every studio or recording artist needs a great 12 string! A great 12 string can inject amazing life to a track, this is a beautiful guitar with some great history!

I love the Swedish-made Goya and Levin guitars. There’s a sweetness and beauty to the way that they sound and play, very inviting and friendly with a huge lushness in the big open chords.

As an instrument, this is about as perfect of a 12 string as I could ever ask for. The sound is absolutely tremendous, you feel like you’re playing an entire orchestra pit. Shimmering tone comes raining out of this guitar and fills the entire room. Neck is straight, action is really good and light, it’s in fantastic aesthetic condition, and everything about it is beautiful and inspiring. This has the later generation individual bridge saddles that can twist up or down that I’ve always liked the look of. I have it setup for huge tone right now, but there’s room for them to go down a little more if you want the action lower. Everything about this guitar is classy and beautiful from head to toe! Looks great, plays great, and sounds amazing.

This guitar represents the end of the Swedish guitar production, right after this Martin purchased Goya and moved production to Japan and Korea. Some of the Japanese Goyas from that time are kind of alright, but they don’t have 1/100th of the magic that these Swedish ones do. There’s such ann incredible and undeniable feeling and sound to these Swedish made guitars, nothing else comes close.

A great 12 string is really at home in the studio. There’s all kinds of cool illusions you can do with a 12 string that cause a track to jump out of the speakers. The trick on a lot of tracks off Damn the Torpedos was that the bass was doubled by a 12 string, it creates a depth that you can’t get without it. I double parts in the studio with a 12 string all the time and it creates a really cool dimension and life to the track. They’re super valuable if you own a studio (even a home studio) or are regularly recording.

This guitar is near mint, it’s in crazy super nice condition for being close to 45 years old. I think the tuners may be replacements, but they’re high quality and look totally nice with no visible extra holes. The bridge pins are original and some of the center black plastic has chipped off of the center, but that’s no big deal. I actually really dig the 2 strings per bridge pin thing with a 12 string! That’s a cool idea that I wish more guitars used. It comes with this nice 70’s Alvarez hardshell case that fits it super well, as of right now it’s missing a handle but I’m good at repairing cases and I’ll make sure it’s working right before it goes out. Super great guitar!
